How we take a tree down without touching your house

Anybody with a chainsaw can fell a tree in an open field. The reason people call us is the other kind — the tree with a roof under one side, a fence under the other, and a power drop running through the middle of it.

Those come down in pieces. A climber sets a line, works up through the canopy, and removes the tree in controlled sections that are rigged and lowered rather than dropped. Where the geometry is bad, we brace and protect what's underneath before anything moves. One of our customers described a pine growing over her roof this way:

“They carefully removed a section of my neighbor's fence (after we'd received permission), built a temporary brace to protect my shed and then proceeded to take down the pine tree manually a section at a time. Since the tree was growing over the roof, there was a very real chance of catastrophe. But, Aaron and his team worked their plan and successfully had the tree removed and the area cleaned up before mid-afternoon.”

That is the job. Plan it, protect what's under it, take it apart in the right order, and leave.

Signs a tree needs to come out

Removal is the last option — a healthy tree is worth more standing. But some trees are past saving, and in the Mid-South a few failure patterns show up over and over:

• A split or included-bark union at the main fork. Extremely common in Bradford pears and silver maples, and it's how they come apart in a straight-line wind.
• Mushrooms or conks at the base. Fruiting bodies at the root flare usually mean decay is already well inside the trunk. Hypoxylon canker on drought-stressed oaks is a Mid-South classic.
• A lean that changed. Trees lean. What matters is a lean that moved, especially with cracked or heaved soil on the opposite side of the root plate.
• Dead crown, thinning canopy, or a whole dead side — often ash trees hit by emerald ash borer, or pines with bark beetles.
• Roots into a foundation, driveway, sewer line or septic field.
• Storm damage — a torn-out co-dominant leader or a hanger you can see from the driveway.

If you're not sure, that is exactly what a free estimate is for. We'll tell you when a tree can be saved with pruning or cabling instead — and we'd rather do that than sell you a removal you don't need.

What it costs, honestly

Access drives price more than size does. A 60-foot oak standing alone in a front yard with truck access is a fraction of the cost of the same oak in a fenced backyard, over a pool, with the only path being a 36-inch gate.

What we will not do is quote a number over the phone sight-unseen and then "discover" problems once the trucks are in your driveway. You get a written, itemized estimate, and you pay what it says.

Cleanup is the part people actually remember

Three different customers, in three separate reviews, wrote some version of the same sentence: you'd never know we were here. That's not an accident — it's the standard the crew works to. Brush chipped, logs hauled, ruts raked out, the whole site blown down before the trucks leave.
